The Multi-disciplinary Creative’s Go-To Pieces
May 25 2025
London based creative Seana Redmond intuitively translates emotions, collective energy, and cultural shifts into immersive visual stories. Her work is both visually striking and emotionally resonant. She is a creative director and curator who brings vision to life, not only through her own work but also in supporting the creative vision of others in her field through art direction. Through her monthly newsletter Liminal Space and co-created community-centered platform nina, she encourages others to explore their authenticity and carve out their own path.
When it comes to her clothing, Seana draws inspiration from iconic women of the ’70s and ’90s, including Goldie Hawn for her joie de vivre and Kate Moss for her vintage finds. She prefers the codes —or go-to pieces— that make her feel good: “Clothes have consumed a lot of my mental energy over the years. That’s where these codes, or go-to pieces, come in. I need items I can return to again and again. That way, I can focus on sharing my creativity in a meaningful way.”
In this week’s article: Style Staples with Seana Redmond, sharing her six go-to pieces.
1. A Piece of Leather
“A leather jacket is a staple, a classic. Once you have a great one, you don’t need to think about replacing it. It’s a forever piece. My Maryam Nassir Zadeh jacket was an investment piece for sure, it’s a really soft, buttery leather.
I don't know what it is about a leather jacket that I love, it's hard to articulate. It’s a sort of armor, there's something protective about it. I like it when it’s worn in and the sleeves are pushed up. There’s a sense of ease to it, and it instantly elevates any look.”

2. Everyday Tailoring
“The blazer, for me, is about versatility. It elevates anything. If your style is quite casual—jeans and a t-shirt—a blazer always just lifts it. I love tailored suits; which is definitely on my wish list. However I like to get those things right, no point in rushing it until I find the perfect one.
The blazer is that easy go-to piece for meetings. It’s about not overcomplicating things, just focusing on a key piece. It's that idea of being intentional without feeling overdone.”

3. A Touch of Leopard
“Oh my God—leopard! Leopard is the best print ever. It's playful and chic. It’s humorous. With floral prints, you can grow tired of them. With leopard? Never. It’s the ultimate classic print.
What I love is how it can be so tacky and so chic simultaneously. It’s got so much humor to it—it really makes me smile. It can go so far the wrong way, which is what makes it genius when it’s done right. As you can tell, I'm very passionate about it.”

4. The Men’s Shirt
“I love a shirt, it's another easy throw-on piece that makes me feel comfortable. For some, it doesn’t feel right. I think the key is in the proportions: if it’s too neat, it can feel wrong. Oversized gives it comfort and cool.
Leave it unbuttoned a little, soften the structure. It's a masculine piece, but you can make it feminine by how you wear it. It’s that play between masculine and feminine.”

5. Tone on Tone
“This is a big one for me creatively. My work is all about balance and harmony—and that feeds directly into how I dress. Cream and white, or beiges and khakis, these tones are calming, intentional, and visually soft.
There’s something chic and subtle about tonal dressing. Tonal looks shows there’s been some intention. Relaxed, but not lazy.”

6. The Bodysuit
“For me, the bodysuit gives a bit of sexiness, but in a way that feels comfortable and not overt.
It feels like a second skin. I forget I’m even wearing it, which is really important to me. I don’t want to be fussing with clothes. I want to put something on and forget about it. Skims got me into bodysuits — I have a lot of theirs, I wear them for my Tracy Anderson workouts too.
